Hi Rogelio,
Do you have the box checked for "show Icon in the system tray"? This is
in
Options. When you are finished making your selections and after pressing
space bar on okay press space bar on the "hide" choice. Pressing space
bar
on the hide choice will keep Autosizer in the system tray and pressing
space
bar on the "exit" choice will take Autosizer out of the system tray. If
Autosizer isn't in the system tray find Autosizer in your programs list
and
start the program there and that should get it back into the system tray
if
the appropriate boxes are checked. I hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

JAWS works best when the focused window is maximized. Autosizer is a
little utility that automatically maximizes a window when it is first
opened, eliminating the need to do this manually from the System menu.
Autosizer can be set to launch automatically at Windows start-up, and it
runs unobtrusively in the backround. You can even set it to alert you
with a ding sound to indicate that the focused window has been maximized.
If you prefer not to install it, remember to always manually maximize the
focused window (Alt-Space, X) to optimize JAWS performance. This is
especially important when using your web browser so that JAWS can
correctly recognize all objects on a particular web page. You can
download Autosizer from the JAWS Users programs page under the Utilities
heading. If you run JAWS 10, you should download version 1.6, otherwise,
download version 1.7. HTH.

Hi George,
No, I am not saying that we don't need Autosizer. I'm not saying that
at
all. I still use it. Sometimes it can cause a focus issue and when
that
happens you uninstall it, & reinstall it, if Autosizer is the problem
is
all
I'm saying and if there is a focus issue the only way to find out if
Autosizer is the culprit is to do just that. I really like this
program
&
find it to be a very handy tool. Take care.

Hi Mike:
I renamed the .dll and .exe for autosizer, rebooted and it seems to
have
taken care of the focus problem. The dates on the .dll and .exe were
early
06 and untill JAWS10 autosizer worked fine. Now are you guys saying we
no
longer need autosizer? I installed it back when Debbie Scales was
running
jfwlite.
Thanks,

Hi George & Jacob,
The Autosizer has been known to cause focus problems. Several people
on
this list and the Jaws Users list have had issues with the Autosizer
program, including David Ferrin if I am not mistaken. I am not trying
to
bash the program but, I am stating what has happened. All you have to
do
is
uninstall the program and reinstall it. In my personal experience I
have
only had trouble with the updated versions beyond version 1.6 and so I
leave
the box unchecked for the program to update automatically. Below is a
direct download link for the 1.6 version.
Also Jacob, could you explain to me how you were able to change the
sound
Autosizer makes when it maximizes a window? My sound doesn't work
whether
that box is checked or not.

I hope this helps you with your focus issues. Take care.

Hi George,
Are you running the Autosizer program by any chance? Let us know,
because
that could be your problem if you are. Take care.

On the address book that is the same way it works with mine but it is
not
sometimes it is every time I enter OE, but as I said I could live
with
that.
The focus problem in OE is much more anoying.

I'm also using the latest version of jaws 10 (I think 1151), along
with
IE
7 and OE, and haven't really found these problems at all.
Often enough when I start outlook express, it initially says
something
like my first entry in the address book, but immediately afterwards,
it
in
fact reads the top message in the list, and if I hit enter on them
it
reads fine.
Only thing I can think of off hand again is to make sure all parts
of
outlook express and IE are in fact maximised - Alt + space, and then
the
letter X.
Stay well

Hi:
I am using IE7 in Outlook express when I enter OE I get the first
entry
of my address book and the number of entries spoken, I could live
with
this but the focus is very bad, reading a message, deleting and
going
to
the next JAWS10 always looses focus, can't live with that. I went
back
to
version 9 for email. Does anyone have a fix for these problems?
Thanks,
George R. Marshall
