The scanner produces jpg pictures of text which are instantly read by the EyePal software. If however you want the jpg images converted to a text file this takes longer at about 20 seconds a page. As I say in the review this is puzzling as the capacity of the software to instantly read text off images must mean that it is doing very rapid OCR on the fly so why it takes longer to convert to text is a mystery..
