How did you format it?

Quick, or hard/clean format?

A quick format will just clear the file allocation table, but not clear the 
actual data thereon, whereas the hard/clean format will in fact write a 0 to 
each sector/piece of the drive, which would then not leave any recoverable 
data.

Lastly, for this type of recovery it's in fact best to try find a person who 
does it professionally since it's a bit of a specialised task, and I have 
previously just made the effort to in fact backup the important information 
at regular intervals - been a bit off with this recently.
