As far as I am aware, from discussions on other lists, the only accessible way of producing graphic based Organisation charts is to use Microsoft Project rather than Excel. I think this is in fact a work around where you use the process mapping charts of Project to emulate a formal organisation chart.
Although I have Project I have not tested this out myself yet so I cannot give step by step guidance.
