I was aware Netbooks come with Windows XP. Sorry to not mention that. My
proposal was to upgrade this Windows XP by doing a clean install of Windows
7, and my question was whether the current netbook's hardware will be
recognized "out of the box", so to speak, without downloading third party
drivers.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Netbooks and Windows 7
I just purchased a netbook and found, during my research, that most of them
have Windows XP on them. A few of them have windows vista, but I didn't
find very many of those. I didn't find any that were running windows 7.
You might contact a manufacturer and ask them if they make one compativle
with windows 7.
Just a side note: one thing a friend of mine told me before I purchased
mine was that they come with either three or six cell batteries. The six
cell batteries last from 6 to 8 hours. My friend also confirmed that it
lasts that long even running JAWS. I hadn't realized that, so I thought I
would pass it along.
Also, FYI, the most standard keyboard layout I found was on the HP
netbooks.
Hope this helps,
Deanne

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Netbooks and Windows 7
Hello all,
Out of all the netbooks, which one(s) will run Windows 7 without the need
to install third party drivers? Just curious as I'm now doing a re-think
in case my laptop doesn't come back from repair. Please advise. Thanks.
