If you have Vista you have the option of an upgrade or custom (clean)
install. An upgrade not only installs your new OS, but also migrates your
programs, files and settings. Custom (clean) on the other hand is similar
except your programs, files, and settings will be lost thus you start from
scratch with the new OS.

You said if we have Vista. Everything ( programs, documents, etc. ) will
transfer right?

It means that none of your programs, files and settings will be migrated
(upgraded) to the new OS, hence "clean".

Please forgive my ignorance but what exactly do you mean by a "clean
install" as opposed to any other kind of installation. Clarification
would be appreciated.
