That is how I got mine.  The Freedom Scientific Help says it all.

same issues I'm having.

I know you can set folders to classic view, but that doesn't appear to turn 
off the explorer panes.

if you use jaws, I strongly urge you to listen to the vista guide that 
freedom scientific have done. it explains how to navigate round the desktop. 
and gives other hints and tips.

well worth a listen.
