Subject: [Blind-Computing] Problem in trying too connect my time warnermodom
too a dell wireless router.
Good evening everyone.
Last evening, I had a friend come over to try and help me install my dell
router too the modom which was provided to me from time warner, so that I
could have wireless access from my desktop computer too my laptop, and also,
to my netbook which I will be receiving sometime during the next week,
which I hope will be setup for me too use when I visit both my Mother, and
Sister, from Augost 11th, too the 21.
Now, here in lyes the problem, and question. Before he connected the
router too the modom,we turned everything off, and then turned everything
back on, when the computer booted up, there was no change in the status of
the wireless signal, that’s supposed too indicate that there was a change
from the previous setting which was the Verizon dsl, too that of time warner
modom signal. In other words, I was told by varius people who did this
sort of thing on there own computers, that once you connect the router too
the new modom and turn everything on, that there shouldn’t be any problem,
as the modom or router was automatically supposed too be able too convert
the old wireless setup which was verizons dsl, right over too the modom
which is that of time warners road runner service. Now for the question.
Can anyone please direct me as too where too go too se what the settings
were that wer Inputted for verizons dsl service, so that I might be able
too configure or change settings for the new modomand router too be able too
connect together with the router.
Also, when I entered the ip address of 192.168.1.1, which I thought was
supposed too help you find out the necessary information, nothing happened.
When I called time warner, they told me that I might have too go into my
modoms settings too make the changes. They also said that they don’t have
what’scalled a stadic ip like the address that I typed in the run dialog,
which was 192.168.1.1
If anyone on any of these lists that is knowledgeable, and has had trouble
with this sort of thing, if you could provide me with any advice or
suggestion on how too go about resolving this problem, I would very much
appreciate all the help and support that I can get.
Thanks in advance,
Al
