The last time I did a similar restore was on a Sony laptop. I had
previously modified the partition sizes and converted from FAT32 to HPFS.
During the restore, it automatically formatted and partitioned the drive
back to the original factory configuration. There might have been a less
destructive option, but in most cases this might not solve the problem.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Partition drive with recovery disks?
Hi:
I have to reformat my daughter's computer using the recovery disks that
came with it. Is there any way to partition the drive when doing this? I
am not used to using recovery CDs. With Mine I was able to use the windows
unattended setup so realize I can't do my daughter's without sighted help.
Does anyone know if there is a prompt during the install to do a partition
with recovery CDs? Thanks, Deb.
