Actually asus just celebrated their 20th company anniversary this year.
The
company was founded in 1989. So I would not exactly consider this a
'new'
no
name company.
They only restructured their company in 2005, I believe, and changed
their
name from acertek to asus (tek), in the process.
I also did some research yesterday about this netbook in various
independent
messageboards and forums, that are dealing with computer issues. While,
after researching various test sites, this particcular model is
certainly
not the biggest bang for money, techwise, I did not find anything that
would
point to a common malfunction associated with this particular model. So
I
cannot for the world explain, why the 'tech guy' would advise that this
was
a malfunction that was common and could not be helped. I would think, if
this was the case there would have been some big recall action been
taken,
since the launch of this model netbook.
While I, in no way, am aware of the details on what exactly happened
when
or
how or if something was done to the netbook while setting it up and
running
it, I am assuming that maybe just a chain of unfortunate events, led to
this. Or this was one of those so-called Monday products, that had some
issues to begin with.
I am not an asus user myself, but using a lenovo netbook. I paid the
equivalent of 350 euro, when I purchased it and it came with bluetooth,
integrated webcam, wlan, card reader and so forth. I am very pleased
with
it. Especially after upgrading my memory to 2 gigs. So if anyone is oin
the
market for a new netbook, this one might be interesting to check out.
