Thanks for the instructions on how to import my favorites. I found the
following info about the error message you are getting on the winhelponline
blog. I'll copy them below:
When you import the Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 bookmarks file to a system
running Internet Explorer 7 or earlier, the following error occurs when you
click Finish in the Import/Export Wizard.
Not a valid bookmark file
I could fully reproduce the problem in my Windows XP SP3 system running
Internet Explorer 7. The source computer runs Windows Vista with Internet
Explorer 8 Beta 2 installed. Thinking that this could be due to incorrect
formatting or missing tags in the HTML file, I opened the file using Notepad
but couldn't find any errors in it. Eventually I spotted that this issue is
caused by incorrect encoding used by Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 to
create/write to bookmark.htm. With that said, the fix is very simple.
To resolve the problem, save the bookmarks file as ANSI text. To do so, use
the following steps:
Start Notepad, and then open the bookmarks file (bookmark.htm)
Click Save As on the File menu.
In the Save As dialog box, click ANSI in the Encoding list, and then click
Save.
Click Yes when prompted to overwrite the file.
You should be able to import the bookmark file successfully using the
Import/Export Wizard in Internet Explorer.
Hope this helps.
Deanne

Greeting Deanne,
Here is the way I am importing and exporting my favorites.
1. I open IE.
2. Under the file menu, I open Import&Export.
3. hit the next button and in the new open window, I choose the import and
hit again next button.
4. locate the bookmark file which I have already exported, and this file
was saved in My-Document folder.
5. After highlighting the bookmark file, press the next button. Then, you
get the following message:
Import/Export Wizard
Completing the Import/Export Wizard
You have successfully completed the Import/Export wizard. When you click
Finish we will:
Import the favorites from C:\bookmark.htm.
< Back Finish Cancel
6. Finally, I press the Finish button and the import process will be
completed.
Ok, however, in my condition now, after I have done all the above stapes,
I am getting the following error message:
Not a valid bookmark file.
As I said in my previous message, this bookmark file is neither correct
nor corrupted!
Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm curious how you import
your favorites. I would like to put mine on my new netbook. I hope this
question isn't too complicated. . .
Thanks,
Deanne

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Import Favorites
Greeting all,
I am trying to import my favorites to my recently formatted and
reinstalled pc.
However, I am getting the following error message:
Not a valid bookmark file.
Actually, I imported the same file to other three computers with no
problem.
I am using Win XP with JFW_V9.
What might be the problem? is there any thing I have to set or change?
Thanks in advance!
