I recently purchased an upgrade from windowsXPProfessional to Windows Vista Business from the Microsoft store site. It was a download/install, and all seem to go well. The Windows Update, however, will not download and install Windows Vista and Microsoft Framework updates. It will, however, download and install :"optional" updates. I've checked out the error codes, and they all lead back to the Microsoft knowledge base which gives me no suggestions that I haven't already tried. I've tried to re-install, I've downloaded the service pack one, but it says service pack is already installed. I've downloaded service pack 2, but it says I need to install service pack 1 first. Before going through the nightmare of trying to contact Microsoft via the phone, I thought I ask for suggestions here.
