It depends on the version of Windows you're reinstalling. I know you can do a clean install of Windows inside Windows itself as of Vista, but not sure about XP. In any case, your old Windows files will be backed up and will be stored in a folder called windows.old, found on the root of the system partition, for example c:\windows.old. This folder cannot be used to attempt to boot to the old Windows since the boot record has been modified to load the fresh copy. Hope this helps.

Ok friends, let me explain this a bit.
i was told that I can uninstall and reinstall windows without reformatting or formatting. the reason why is that I am for some dumb reason I'm having trouble with outlook express. there's allot of disc activity when I open up outlook express. also when you arrow up or down the activity gets worse. you also see outlook express not responding.
and of course when you alt f 4 end program etc.
Can this truly be done without sighted help?
