Hi
I appreciate the information. The situation I have is that I bought a
book online and received a file. From what I have been able to find out the
file is a link to the book. A person needs Adobe Digital Editions to open
the file, activate the link, and download the book. Why they chose such a
complicated system for book delivery is beyond me.

God bless,
Mark

I installed the software last weekend as well. When I ran into trouble
using it I wrote to [email protected]. Andrew Kirkpatrick, their
Accessibility Engineer, responded back that the current version was not
accessible with any screen reader. He suggested that they are working on
this known issue and the next version released will be accessible.
Unfortunately, he did not provide an expected date.

Evidently the ePub format that it reads is a limited PDF format that
supports DRM. I think it was designed specifically for handheld devices
like mobile phones and eBook readers like the Sony reader. Not sure why
that this version is not accessible? Maybe Adobe purchased this product
from another company. I think Acrobat Reader should just be able to open
this format! By reading through the lines, it seems that Adobe Acrobat
Reader 7 might have been able to read ePub format. Has anyone tried this?

I suggest everyone send Andrew a note to let Adobe know that there is an
interest!

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Adobe Digital Editions

Hi
I installed Adobe Digital Editions. It appears to recognize the book
file that I downloaded from the web. However, when the program opens
there is just the title of the program. How do I go about using Adobe
Digital Editions? It appears to have great potential if I can get it to
work.
    Thank you for your help.

God bless,
Mark
