I became kinda curious after reading your message, and I looked in control
panel and discovered I also have this Sentinal system driver and am not
running Jaws 11. Its possible that a previous version of jaws installed
this, or maybe another piece of software installed it. Its only some .5 megs
so I decided to just leave it there. It seems as though Jaws installs an
inordinate amount of junk on one's computer. I'm sure if you ask FS they
will not agree its junk, but I also checked out the window eyes programs
folder and it had some 98 megs of files but FS has a total of 450+ megs of
files--this is without the FS daisy tutorials. In short, I'd say just leave
that sentinel driver there. some time ago I tried uninstalling some strange
file in my control panel and jaws crumbled. I had to reinstall jaws all over
again. I too get those strange USB connecting problems, but I don't know if
its jaws or something else. I notice it only happens when I actually connect
and disconnect something I attached--I get the sounds out of nowhere hours
later. I do have to say that I've attached many USB devices including
external hard drives and USB drives and can't recall hearing any of these
sounds. Though its possible I have learned to ignore then and simply don't
recall when they happen. Its for these frustrations I don't install freedom
scientific betas as it serves me no benefit to wreck my computer in order to
help an organization like FS simply sell the product I tested right back to
me. Its not just my time and effort that they are taking from me, it can
also be my own computer's reliable functionality. I say no thanks to that
and I call FS tech support at any slight hint of a bug demanding they fix
the problems with the now possibly $2000 I have invested in their screen
reader.

Thanks Mathew for performing that simple lookup. I could not directly
respond to your email because Windows Mail thought your message was
fishing!
I did notice that this software was installed as part of JAWS 11 beta!
Not sure why JAWS needs this type of USB security! Have they incorporated
the dongle version into JAWS 11? I noticed this was now part of JAWS 11
because it failed during installation. I discovered that the only way it
would install without error was to turn off Trend Micro Security
(antivirus and firewall) software that came with my Dell.
I am very uncomfortable with this software for many reasons. Most
importantly, I have been having USB problems on this Vista computer ever
since I installed JAWS 11 beta! My computer keeps making those USB plug
in / unplug sounds all the time! my USB keyboard stops responding
randomly! Unacceptable! I noticed that Vista or Windows 7 were not
mentioned in Mathew's link. I know that may not be the same version
installed, but it is not a good sign. I did go into the Device Manager
and reinstall all of the USB devices using the laptop keyboard. That only
helped for a short time. I don't even think I need to run JAWS 11 beta for
my USB keyboard to go haywire.
I am going to report this to FS and uninstall the beta! I wanted to play
more with ResearchIt, but being able to type is more important. I hope
getting rid of JAWS 11 also completely removes Sentinel completely!
