You might also try unloading jaws altogether and using narrator to test for
OE problems. Use your hotkey to launch OE. Then use windows key plus letter
U to launch narrator or go to windows run and type narrator and hit enter.
While in OE try closing with alt F4 to see what happens. This should rule
out screen reader funny business. To get jaws back hit your jaws hotkey or
go to run and type jaws10 and hit enter. If your computer crashes try
hitting control alt delete. Then chances are pretty good you'll land on
processes tab so hit alt letter E about 5 times to end these tasks.
Hopefully jaws will return, but it if doesn't try your jaws hotkey or try
run as I've specified above. You might also do what I do and place a hotkey
on an MP3 sound effect. If you're ever not sure whether windows has crashed
or if its just jaws, hit your sound effect hotkey and if you hear the sound
effect but not jaws chances are jaws is preventing you from accessing
windows that's still up and running.

I too had problems with jaws 10 and went back to jaws 9 but it too is
giving me lots of problems and seems to copy the incorrect text therefore
pasting other than what I wanted to copy--what a mess this jaws. I've have
to reinstall once again from scratch. Anyways, how long do you wait before
trying to get jaws to say something? Maybe its not jaws in this case,
though it probably is, but it might also be a problem with OE. Rather than
rebooting your computer, try the insert+windows key+F4 to completely unload
jaws from memory then launch jaws again. Also try running OE and jaws 9 (or
older version) to rule out jaws 10 problems.

Hi all.
I just upgraded to jaws 10 and it's running smoothly for the most part
but there is one troubling problem. Sometimes when I close outlook
express, in the usual way, with alt+f4, it seems that Jaws just goes
away. I can't access the taks manager or anything, and my only choice is
to reboot. I am running Windows XP ith SP3, Jaws 10 and OE7.
has anyone observed this before, and if so, is there a work-around for
it?
thanks.
