Hi,
I had to install this program to watch the stream of the Van Cliburn competition and found the program totaly inaccessible to a blind user. Not sure if it was the program or the interface the web people were using with that stream. Just my experience.

Chris' answer is correct. Basically, it is Microsoft's response to Adobe's Flash. Not quite as successful, so far. Like Flash, there is some accessibility added later, but not 100%. Just my opinions, not an expert.

Hope this helps. Microsoft Silverlight is a web application framework
developed by Microsoft. Initially released as a video streaming plugin,
later versions brought additional
interactivity features and support for .NET languages and development tools.
The current version, 3.0, was released on July 9, 2009.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Silverlight program question

Hi All,

Would someone please describe/ explain to me/us exactly what the MS
Silverlight application/program does? Is it something that Jaws users need to have running & updated? And, what does it do for a sighted person? All
information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.
Mike
