Depends. If it's charged directly via USB then yes, as the PC's USB port
supplies the power to the USB port to which the MP3 player is connected. You
can however buy AC to USB, meaning you plug the USB end into the player and
plug the other into a mains outlet. In this setting your mains supplies the
power, and so no PC is required. Hope this helps.
