Hello everyone, My mom is having trouble getting connected at times to the internet through her dial-up ISP and also having some troubles with her printer. I have tried to figure it all out without success.
Here are the problems. 1. She uses a dial-up ISP called blue light. Sometimes when she is on the phone talking to someone, the modem will kick in and try to connect her to the ISP. At other times, she can't get connected at all when trying to get on-line. 2. She just replaced an ink cartridge in her printer. Now, the printer doesn't print anything in the color green. It will print all other colors, just not green. My thought was the modem was set to re-dial at different times. But checking that I found out it was not set to do that anywhere. She has an alarm system that uses the phone line to send diagnostic reports to her security company at different times. I think maybe that security system may be causing some problems. Has anyone else had any problems with security systems conflicting with their dial-up? Now, sometimes when she can't get connected to her ISP, she can shut down her computer, re-start it and then be able to get connected. She is using XP Home and her dial-up connection goes through Internet Explorer to for her internet browsing. She doesn't know what version of IE she has, uses AVG suit for her firewall and anti-virus. Any suggestions on what maybe I can tell her to try would be very, very appreciated. I have to try to help her over the phone as she lives in another town. Thanks in advance, Ken For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
