Hi,
Yes that is true here as well with XP, I really missed that first letter
nagigation but I have got used to it now.
It is exactly the same as OE in that I just tab between the foler list and
the list of messages. I stay focused on the unread folder and just read
these messages as they come in. Occasionally I tab to the folder list and
arrow down to the junk folder to check there and then press home to return
to top of list and down one for unread folder again. I am still able to
move messages into desired folders from the unread list should I need to
move them.
I believe the auto complete is working to a fashion but jaws is not dealing
with it well at all. Originally I thought that just did not work but now I
find with a little more use of jaws it is filling in and the use of the read
line or whatever will show you it has been filled in. This is the To field
on a new message.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] More Windows Live Mail questions and observations
First, I am having two main problems with Windows Live Mail. . As far as I
can tell there is no first letter navigation of folders. For example I
save many emails in folders for future reference. Previously to move
emails to specific folders in OE I could just use control shift V and then
choose a folder from the list by first letter navigation which was very
quick. Now, on my new Windows 7 64 bit laptop running Jaws 11 and
Windows Live Mail there is no first letter navigation of the folder list.
You have to tab several times and then find the folder with the tree list
which is very tedious. I don't think it even remembers the last folder you
sent an email to so it is the tree view every time. And I have not
discovered how to have the auto complete work when adding the contacts
sending email.
It is confusing in that it seems to put each separate account into its own
folder list with its own Inbox, Sent mail, etc. Sure would love a
tutorial on exactly how it is set up.
And it is very, very sluggish when moving through a list. I thought
Windows 7 64 bit was supposed to be faster...but faster than what? It is
much slower than my Dell XP laptop. I may end up giving my husband the
new Acer except then I would have purchased Windows 11 ($240) for nothing
since Jaws 9 works great on my Dell..
There are some good points about WLM, however.
I was able to import my messages from OE. I just copied the message
storage file to the Windows 7 laptop and was able to navigate to that
folder when importing. It did put them in a separate list but at least
they are there.
Secondly it is set up very much like OE. The message rules work the same
way as in OE as does the "find message command.
When setting up accounts it was much easier. To add my Gmail I just had to
put in the address and password. Then I did not check to set it up
manually and it automatically configured it. It adds a folder called Gmail
and one for my other email and in these folders you can see the email that
is stored online before it is downloaded.
It seems to sync the mail so I think I am able to download the same mail
to both laptops.
Anyway, does anyone know about first letter navigation of folder lists?
I surely think this is a really important feature that is very necessary.
Any advice appreciated.
