Hi
After reading that there was a software version of the Kindle Book Reader, I did some research on Amazon and found a link that appeared to want to down load the software. Then just like was reported on the list a registration window popped up that is in accessible. After setting JAWS to unrestricted I noticed that there was some strange text that said things like 1 KB. I am not sure what that is. Three things have come to mind. First, perhaps the fire wall/anti virus is blocking it communicating to the internet? Second, if this is a webpage perhaps my pop up blocker is blocking the next window from showing? Finally, if by some strange twist of fate the down load speed is actually 1 KB then it is going to take a long time for that registration window to display. I was not able to test any of these ideas but perhaps someone else might find them handy. All I can do to help at the moment is offer ideas on where one might start looking for the answer.

God bless,
Mark

The one I'm specifically talking about is the software package.

I also found something that's supposed to be able to extract content from/convert kindle books into other formats, called Calibre, but it's also not really accessible as such.

Stay well

Hi
Is The Kindle Book Reader you are discussing the stand alone unit or is it a software package for the computer?

God bless,

Ok, just tried it myself now and, yes, couldn't carry out the registration process.

Will maybe get a sighted person to have a look tomorrow at work, and let's see...but, yes, irritating...

Jacob, I tried it and it quits at the registration point. Internet explorer gave a security warning before the download started so i went ahead and did the installation directions but it stopped on the registration. Would like
to hear others' experiences. marilyn
