It gets used to specifically play certain file types, like .mov files, but
they're not too common since I'm pretty sure that's almost like a
macintosh's version of a WMV file, but so you could either try just setting
options to make it not appear in system tray/auto start, or you could
uninstall it for now, since would guess that you might not need it too
often, and pretty sure other, useful media playing software, like VLC media
player can also play .mov files.
