As far as I am aware only version 3 of Thunderbird is fully accessible. You need to check your sending settings in Thunderbird. These settings are called your smtp settings. These vary according to what internet service provider you are using. I would suggest you either. 1. Phone the helpline of your internet service provider to get help on what these are and where to enter this setting. 2. Go to the web site of your internet service provider and consult the help pages as to what your email smtp settings should be.
There are other things which vary from Internet service provider to internet service provider like settings on authentication so it is pretty difficult to give general advice. Typically smtp settings may be something like Smtp dot your internet provider name dot com If you had email accounts working in another application like outlook express it might be easier to uninstall and re-install thunderbird and let Thunderbird import this email account when it starts up for the first time.
