You are having the same problem I do when trying to open something from the desktop. It doesn't happen all the time but it does. I think your windows explorer is crashing. I did get a notification on this once and it said that is what was happening. Something needs to be updated in your drivers. I myself have to go to hp to se if they have come up with drivers that will work with win 7. As of the last time I looked they did not have them yet.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Jaws 11, win seven start menu and desktop?

Hi,
I'm having problem, that when I'm in win 7 and go to the desktop and want
go to the computer, control panel, etc., it'll not do anything, but after
minutes or two, will give me message, that the server explorer was stopped
and there is button "ok", but after this it'll open my previous folder.
Next thing is in start menu, when I'm browsing there and I'm on shut down
option, it'll tell me something like "no select item".
And is possible turn off search box from start menu? I tried find it in
task bar settings, but no results.
With best regards,
  Marek Durila
