Assuming that you are using either Windows XP, Vista or 7, then a very good
free anti-virus program is Microsoft Security Essentials.
You can download it from:
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Be sure that any other anti-virus software is removed before trying to
install this software. Also, make sure that all Windows updates have been
installed.
I have been installing this on client computers since December and it is
working very well.
