Subject: [Blind-Computing] program to make progress sounds?

Hi all
The one thing I like very, very much about nvda, is the beeps it makes when
programs are installing or mail are coming down, and so on.
Now I want to know if there is a way to get this in other screen readers or
even with out them.
For the first time I can here my computer doing things in the background and
I just love that. I also find the speaking of percentage very slow and,
although it is useful, it often slows things down.
Just for interest sake and because I think it can be useful. Thanks for
any response.
