Don,
I found something that you might find useful. In the View menu, is a check box for what Live Mail calls the "Reading Pane". Just as an experiment, I removed the check box and then went back into reading my messages. Wonder of wonders, everything works much better than it did before.

Here are a couple of things which have improved with that simple change.

1. When you press the Delete key, the message disappears immediately as it does with Outlook express. 2. The view now goes directly to any message when you click on the relative folder.

Those 2 improvements alone, were worth the effort.

As you recommended, I minimized all applications, shut down Windows Live Mail, restarted Jaws and the difference was remarkable.

Yeah, this comes up occasionally on this list. Freedom Scientific has paid little attention to fixing the Windows Live Mail scripts that are just modified Outlook Express scripts. They just say it should be taken care of in the update later this month. They would not even take down or listen to specifics. I hope they at least do not throw out my email, listing my issues. That was in January!

I think your current annoyance is due to the fact that JAWS sees the note portion of the message as a browser and switches to the virtual cursor. Before you type, press Space to turn on Forms Mode. It gets worse, because JAWS gets confused if you switch to other windows and back to continue typing. It may still be in Forms Mode or it may decide not to let you do anything! If this happens, I just minimize all windows with Windows + D, and unload JAWS and restart JAWS again.

For some reason, JAWS 11 is unusable with Windows Live Mail for me. JAWS 10 works much better on my computer. I switch to 10 just to read my mail.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience and can give me some pointers. I have recently downloaded Windows Live Mail which is supposed to be the modern equivalent of Outlook Express. On Saturday, I opened the program and tried to read and respond to my messages as normal. But everything I typed got scrambled and ended up in the strangest places. Normally, when you respond to a message, your reply is entered at the top of the page and after you have finished typing, the earlier message appears immediately below what you have typed. Suddenly, and here's the issue, when I tried to read what I had just entered, part of the message was in one place, while other sections appeared somewhere else. If I can put it mildly, it was maddening. Finally, I gave up and shut down the computer. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, Jaws 11 and an HP Professional notebook Model 550. does anyone know what could cause that kind of situation?
