HI Zach; First there is a step missing . Before you put a file into the Public folder it needs to be zipped up / Compressed, and then pasted into the Public folder. After pasting the zipped file into the Public folder you have to press Insert / Jaws key + F11 to go to the system tray and the Dropbox thing in here has to read that all files are up to date before you can assign a download link to the zip file. When Dropbox in the system tray reads all files up to date you then go to the Public folder and highlight the zip file you want to share. Press the applications / context menu key, arrow down to Dropbox, press enter, arrow down to " copy public link " and press enter. When you press enter on " Copy Public Link ", this copies a link to your clipboard. You now create an email, put in the people you want to share this particular file with, and in the edit field press control + V to paste the link that was copied to the clipboard earlier. That is it! Hope this clears things up for you. Take care. Mike

The Public Folder lets you easily share single files in your Dropbox. Any file in you put in this folder gets its own Internet link so that you can share it with others-- even non-Dropbox users! These links work even if your computer's turned off. Step 1: Drop a file into the Public folder. Step 2: Press the application key to open the context menu or Right-click/control-click this file, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link. This copies the Internet link to your file so that you can paste it somewhere else. That's it! You can now share this file with others: just paste the link you into e-mails, instant message conversations, blogs, etc.! Hope this helps. Take care.
