If you look on the view menu, what type of view is currently active?
I think there might be one for web layout, but more common might be print
layout, whereas in something like normal, it might then not offer links as
such.

My MicroSoft Word (.doc) files do not now show hyper links. For example,

wich once was a link; is now, not.
