The latest software if not already installed on the player has bookshelf.
You press the play button down till you hear it say, bookshelf, then you
press the f/r to move through the books on the cartridge. When you find the
one you want to read, just press the play button and it will start to read.

Hi,
I only have a flash drive buat let's say you read 1 book and you had 3 on
the drive, does it then choose another even though the read book is still
there? I haven't used a thumb drive but the flash book will say to me "2
books." I don't know how you would get the player to pick the right book.

I also have more than one book on the thumb drive with no issues.

Hi,
Well, excuse my post. I went to the web page and downloaded the file.
The
library told me the latest firmware version was 3.1.2. It is the library
in
Philadelphia so if you want to challenge them, the phone number is
800-222-1754.

That's not correct.
Here are two explanatory links.
Direct link to the latest firmware update:

Link to the NLS page with steps in updating the firmware etc:

I was under the impression that the players, standard and advanced, would
be
upgraded with the latest firmware, with the insertion of a book
cartridge
from the lending library. Is this correct?? thanks, Don

Hi,
I have a tidbit from nls. When you try to install the upgrade,
the file
name "upgrade will be on your flash drive. If you want to hear
the serial
number spoken and the current firmware version, press the sleep
button 10
times. I don't know if this applies to the advanced players.
