To my surprise, I just tried to access Meritline.com with IE 8, and this time I was able to load it successfully. So maybe Verizon unblocked it after all.

I tried all your suggestions, and even performed a System Restore back to
last Thursday when I could still access Meritline.com, but no luck. I ran
all kinds of virus and spyware scans and came up clean. So the only thing I
can conclude is that my ISP, Verizon, decided to suddenly start blocking
access to this site. I spoke to them, but they insist that they are not
blocking access. I think they are giving me a bunch of BS. So at this
point, it looks like I will no longer be able to access Meritline.com unless
Verizon decides to become more cooperative, or unless there is something
else I can try.

It could have been down but it is up now.
The issue may be with your PC's DNS Cache. Try flushing it and the problem
will b solved. Usually PCs store DNS addresses to quickly retrieve sites,
and while this may be beneficial, it may lead to problems in cases where the
return from the site is negative.

The cache may be stored up to 24 hours, so you may do the following:
1. From your command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns to clear the cache.
or
2. The problem may be with your ISP's DNS server. One of their servers may
be down so try pinging each of their server to see which one is down
3. To see that the site is still up and running even though you cannot
access it, try pinging it from the command line by typing ping
www.meritline.com and see the verbose output.

Hope this helps. If it does not, I may offer you a registry tip, but since
we are on a public list, this may be fatal to some. So you can contact me
offline and I will give you a tip on how to ensure that you do not have
negative caches stored on your PC.
(However, if the moderator were to allow it, I would post this here. Since
it affects the registry, we don't want to blow our fellow friends machines!)

Cheers,
.

Thanks. I'm relieved that Meritline.com is still up and running, but why
can't I access it all of a sudden? My ISP is Verizon DSL, if that makes any
difference.

Hi Gerald
I tried the site here and it works well. Their title page as I copied it a
few seconds ago is "DVD-R, DVD R Media, DVD Cases, Flash Memory, Ink Toner
Cartridges, Hardware, Electronics, Home & Décor, Accessories & More -
Meritline.com" and I have my Firefox window open right now as I send this
reply. They never went away with your cash, <smile!>
Otherwise have a sweet memorial day there in the States.

Cheers,

Happy Memorial Day,gang. On Friday, I ordered a flash drive from Meritline.com. But since yesterday, I have been unable to access this site using either IE 8 (I get the dreaded Internet Explorer cannot display the web page error) or Firefox. I have even tried to access Meritline.com using its IP address (98.129.100.93 ) with no luck. I have no trouble accessing any other web sites using my Dell workstation with XP Pro. Can someone try to access meritline.com and let me know whether they are also encountering problems? I hope meritline.com didn'tsuddenly go belly up because they already charged my credit card for the flash drive. However, it seems to me that if this site cannot be accessed using its IP address it is most likely down or gone. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gerald
