It seems that in both situations, the left arrow will first close the
object, then the next press will move up to the next level.The Backspace key
takes me up a level with each press.

I would like to know if Left arrow and Backspace work the same to
navigate a level backwards in a tree view in a dialog box.
I would also like to know if it works the same in Windows Explorer.
