Lori and Kenbu.
There is a marvelous book written by Anna Dresdner. It has recently added
a new version which talks about ITunes 9 and the newer versions of the
IPod. Just Google Anna Dresdner and you'll find her information quickly
enough.
In the meantime, here are a couple of hints.
1. NEWLY DOWNLOADED TRACKS:
In ITunes, there are several parts of the Library. If you got the message
indicating that the tunes were downloaded successfully, they are probably
there. You will find them in two places.
Go into your ITunes and press the letter M for music. Your best friend in
using ITunes is the F6 key. What you're dealing with here is a situation
involving a display that is in 3 parts. They all show on the screen but
Jaws concentrates on one at a time. The F6 key will move you from section
to section. Once you have brought up the ITunes Library, press F6 and
listen for an Edit field. Type in the name of the song you have
downloaded or maybe the artist's name. Then, press Enter. If the songs
are in there, they'll come up shortly in a list. Once you have finished
looking at that list, use Shift Tab to go back to field called, Clear
Edited Text or something like that. Press Enter on it and the information
you have typed in, is removed.
2. ITUNES SPECIALIZED LISTS:
If you F6 until you hear "Resources" you will find that ITunes has quite
a few dedicated lists where things are stored for one reason or another.
One of the lists is called "Recently Added" and if your songs were
downloaded recently, you will find them there. Just find that list, press
Enter on it and then F6 until you hear the Edit field. Tab again and
you'll come up eventually to the list of songs that have been added
recently.
I hope this helps. Anna Dresdner is brilliant and she talks our language.
I'm sure you have come across books that were written by people with so
much knowledge that you can easily get lost in their explanations. We
have a couple of people on this list who are so far ahead of the average
computer user, it's as if they are speaking a different language. Both
David and Rick try to keep things as simple as they can but either of
them could lose some of us without even trying hard. Good luck.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Help with Itunes
Hi everyone I'm new to this list and I actually don't know if this
question really counts, but I've tried searching the net for mailing
lists for the blind to do with Itunes and found nothing. My question is
I am having trouble accessing my library and sometimes when I download
tracks sometimes they disappeare after I've downloaded them. I don't
think it's because Jaws is missing things out when reading my lists, but
if anyone knows anything about Itunes or Ipod shuffle could they please
give me some help? By the way I have tried email and phoning apple help
desk and they were about as much help as a chocolate teapot! <Smile>
Many thanks and sorry if this is way off topic. Best wishes from Lori.
