There are several reasons for partitioning a hard drive,
here are the 2 that come to mind immediately:
1. Installing multiple operating systems.
2. Keeping personal data separate from the operating system, in the event the o/s crashes and needs to be re-installed. This is also handy for keeping the system partition size to a minimum for imaging purposes.

The only reason I know of to partition a drive is when you want to put multiple operating systems on it. Other than that I don't think there is any point in it.

Have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7, and jaws 11 which has one terabyte hard drive. I understand it would be a more efficient operating machine if it were partitioned. I used to partition the old DOS computers, but I do not have any idea of how to do it on the new machines.

Should I have the computer partitioned?
Can I do it myself, or should I obtain help?
Where can I find directions or help??

thanks for any help.
