Yes, I know things are different depending on whether you have XP, Vista or
Windows 7.
However, the solution for this is going to the power options in the control
panel. You can select your settings for when the laptop sleeps. You can do
this for battery and external power.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] my lap top going to sleep

Today I was uploading some MP3 files from my lap top to my dropbox. It was
going to take about an hour. I just left the lap top alone with nothing
happening, but when I went back to check the progress, it had gone to sleep.
I had to restart it. I have a Toshiba and was wondering if there is any way
I can stop it from going to sleep when I am doing nothing. Now, I let some
music play while I am trying to perform this task. Any suggestions?
