Why would you want to select files at random? If you want to select multiple files in Windows Explorer that are not contiguous or not together, once on the first desired file, hold down the Control key. Continue to arrow around in the same folder to look for other files. When you are on another desired file, press Space once. It should say "selected". Do this until all desired files in that folder are selected. This selection method uses Windows keystrokes and will work with any screen reader.

Hi all
I am using nvda and windows xp.
Can some one please explain to me how to select files randomly to delete or copy or what ever for?
For some reason it is just not clicking into my thick scul.
