Hi Lennie; When you were in the control panel / sounds & audio properties / sounds page, did you check and make sure that the sound scheme didn't get changed to no sounds? I'm sure you did but, it's easier to start with the little things first. Take care. Mike

For example, I do not hear the window startup or shutdown sound when restarting or turning off my computer. Some other programs which uses windows system sound are not playing either. I checked the control panel and press enter to hear the sound and everything appears to be in order. I can play my WAV and Mp3 files with no problem. I also went to the system folder, then to media folder and played the various sounds without any problem. I cannot figure out what to do from here.
