Previously control K would set a temporary bookmark, which doesn't
seem to be the case anymore.
Control shift K opens the template to set a permanent bookmark.
Hopefully, as I haven't checked this yet, pressing the letter K still
brings you to set bookmarks.
I'm just starting my journey with IE8 and Windows7. Lucky me.

Thank you Maria, when I hit control shift K, I get a list to insert
place markers not the actual setting of a place marker.

Control K in IE8 now seems to open a new tab. Shift plus control K
still works for setting a permanent bookmark.
