Group,
David ferrin from the Blind Computing list and I worked on this thing for
about an hour but we got absolutely nowhere.
I'm using Windows 7 Professional and Jaws 11, latest version.
this system did not come with Adobe Reader on it. When I tried to load it
from the site, I saved it to my Downloads folder but when I tried to install
it, , I got an "unavailable" message.
It goes through some kind of percentage display but never actually ends up
in the system. So with David's recommendation, I went to OLDVERSION.COM
and founde an older version of Adobe reader.
It installed just gfine but when i tried to use it, I got warning messages
and finally had to uninstall it altogether.
I looked into the Acrobat paid version but it's $199 and i can't aford that
right now.

1. Has anyone had this problem where Adobe Reader appears to install, but
it doesn't?
2. If so, what did you do about it?
3. Is there an Adobe Technical Support number anyone knows about?
4. Can anyone possibly explain what is going on here?

the Adobe folder did end up in the Programs -X86 folder which indicates
that it is being run in 32 bit mode but that isn't a problem.
I'm really beginning to miss my Windows XP right now.

I even tried System Restore and went into the Registry and removed all of
the Adobe keys.
It still won't install and I don't know why.

Tom and rick on the Windows 7 list. . For the record, this is definitely a
Windows 7 related issue since I have no trouble at all with Adobe on my XP
systems.
I'm sending this message to both the Blind Computing and the Windows 7 For
Blind Users lists because i am confident i can find the best blind computer
users there.
