Hello Donnie,

Here are two ideas that might help you with your external hard drive problem.

  1. It may be a power problem. You can purchase an external hard drive
enclosure from almost any where that sells computer parts. Once you get the
external drive enclosure, take the external hard drive out of the current
enclosure and put it into the new one and it might work.

  2. I have heard that if you have a faulty drive, you can put it in the
freezer for a while and some times this lets the drive work long enough to get
your data off of the drive.

I have never needed to use the freezer idea, but I have put old drives into
drive enclosure kits. If you go with the drive enclosure kit idea, make sure
that the kit will match the type of drive you currently have.

HTH,

TJ

Subject: [Blind-Computing] External Hard Drive Question

One of my external hard drives has quit working. When I unplug the USB cord,
it lights up for just
about 30 seconds and then it quits again. Is there any way I can get the
stuff I have on it off
before it completely quits working. I can't even open it at this point.

  Thanks,
  Donnie

Have a great day, unless you have made other plans.
