David:
This list is invaluable to me. It has made my experience using JAWS and the computer SOOO much easier! I truly appreciate all the work the three of you do so quietly and efficiently behind the scenes to keep this list running for us. The three of you are awesome! Thank you!

This is in regard of the recent thread about some of us being old timers myself included BTW. A couple of us who monitor these lists have been receiving private messages from people complaining about the way things have been handled. Personally my opinion is that it was handled quite well. A young man made what he felt was an innocent comment and he got a lot of flack for it from many of the members on here, again myself included. We left the thread go for a couple of days just to lighten the mood on here but yesterday I decided it was time to shut it down and get back to the purpose of what this list is all about. Now I am getting private messages that the guys are getting complaints that things were heading in a racial or ethnic direction. This I can state for a fact is not, never has been, or never will be an issue on any list I have a hand in monitoring. I can't control private messages any of you might send to each other but so far as what comes over this forum that's another story.

I do this because I feel it is something that needs to be done. People in my opinion need a safe place where they can ask for help without fear of being insulted or criticized for not knowing a particular fact of computing. I started JAWS Users with Bob almost five years ago and Rick joined us about six months later, together the three of us have weathered some pretty big storms again just because we all feel it is something that simply needs to be done.

The only thing we get out of it is the satisfaction that we are doing something that is helping out a lot of people or at least we'd like to think so. Honestly there are days when I think that playing electronic golf or enjoying the out side world listening to my Victor Reader seem pretty enticing. Some day we may shut it down although we are not planning on it at the present time.

I need Rick and Bob to help me run these lists and if they get tired of doing it I'm not doing them alone, they are just too big. So no more private messages to either of them. I'm the guy who's name is on the door so to speak.
