Those full featured programs all work well. I even purchased one. The capability to mount an ISO file as a virtual CD/DVD drive is nice. However, I most often burn ISO files to disk and rip a complete disk to an ISO file, using simpler tools. Windows 7 has a built-in ISO burner simply started by useing the Applications key, to simulate a right click, and select "Burn to disk".

I prefer the free utility ISO Recorder by Alex Feinman. It is a wizard like the new Windows 7 utility and is activated from the right click context menus in the same way. I even prefer it over the included burner in Windows 7, because I can burn directly from a network share file and it also has the capability to create an ISO file from a CD/DVD, also called ripping. Just hit the Applications key on the CD/DVD drive in Windows Explorer.

I do not think it can deal with DVDs in Windows XP.

You can also try UltraISO, PowerISO or MagicISO. All these are accessible and you would save your CD/DVD just as you would any other document from the File->Save menu. I find these user-friendly to work with. They are, however, shareware but worth their billing.
