What's your source for these file types?
If something like sendspace, or just ftp/http servers, then their file types
wouldn't really matter, and I like/use free download manager:

(it's just a little bit of an issue clearing it's download history in
windows 7, but works easily enough on XP)
For specifically downloading audio versions, or video from youtube,
DVDVideoSoft has all the necessary software:
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/
There you can use FreeYouTubeToMP3 converter to download audio file version,
or FreeYouTubeDownloader to actually download video clips.
