Annette. Ran a 10 second Google search and came up with the following. Looks
like someone else has done exactly what your daughter has been asked to do:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/listen/
I ran this Google search: listen to earthquake audio

I just downloaded Wave Pad, and it might be helpful. It has a sound
library, that maybe we can start with by downloading a sound and edit it to
achieve the effect we are looking. If anyone can direct me to sound effects
such as very large trucks rumbling past, or better yet earthquake rumbling,
that would be great.

Does anyone know if there are any JAWS scripts for Wave Pad. JAWS is not
telling me what each of the buttons are. But maybe I do not need to use the
buttons, and can control everything from either the menus or short cut keys.

If memory serves I don't think I have anything like that up there at this
time. There is a program that distorts your voice called fake voice I
believe but I doubt that is what she is after.

I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up
too.

Annette,

Have you looked on the JAWS or Blind Computing site? There are loads of
programs etc there and possibly what you are searching for.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] software sound generator

Hello List,

I am wondering if there are any free software programs out there that will
let the user create and record a sound to a format that can be played on a
iTouch. My daughter is working on a science project where she has to
generate a sound that simulates a compression wave such as that of an
earthquake. She has to be able to control the frequency, decibel and
duration of the generated sound. The saved sound will then need to be
played back from her iTouch. Of course I am hoping that there is a program
that is compatible with JAWS running on a laptop with XP.
Otherwise it
needs to run on a laptop with Vista. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Annette
