Well, Andre's right--u didn't give us a lot--but, assuming this is xp,
here's what let's do.
1) Go to control panel, display, then control tab to 'desktop page'.
2) Tab to the 'customize desktop' button & activate it w/enter/spacebar.
3) Check the 'my documents' button, then down arrow to 'my computer' &
'network places' & check those as well.

I got help from a colleague after my computer crashed and was able to get
most of my programs sorted out. However, somehow, the desktop layout isn't the same as when I bought the system. Now, the first item on the desktop is
the recycle bin.

Originally, the first icon was the "my documents" folder followed by My
Computer, My Network Places and then Recycle Bin. How do I reconfigure the
desktop the way I want it?
