One of the reasons I asked was because out of all of the DVDs we have bought, none of them provide Described Video! The only mainstream movie I even heard of that did was "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I think they even made the main menu accessible. I recognize the site. That is the PBS Station in Boston. They basically invented Described Video Service (DVS) nostly or entirely with government grants. They also provided all of the narration services on those movies they sell.

I have not played a DVD with a DV audio track, so I can not say for sure how to do this. I do have some ideas based on similar tasks. Do you have the accessible version of VLC Player 0.8.6i? It is available on their website in their FTP archive of old versions. It allows you to change the language through the menus. I do not think any menu system will actually call the alternate track Described Video. The DVD format is lousy for these purposes due to the fact that they refuse to provide any information, such as labels, for language tracks, menus, or chapters. You will probably need to just try all of the other available languages. Spanish is always my first attempt, since these two are commonly interchanged in the broadcast TV areana historically. Ideally find a Player that switches between all available audio tracks on the DVD. I think this is the Control + l hotkey in PowerDVD from CyberLink. I do not recommend this for JAWS users, since the last time I tried this product, it was not usable as long as JAWS was installed.

At 3 am here, I can not get to any DVDs. Look in these menus for switching language tracks.

Windows Media Player: Play > CD/DVD Audio submenu
VLC Player Audio menu

Without the DVD, these menus are not available. I will check my DVS notes to see if I wrote down the VLC hotkey to rotate through all available languages.

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working on things that matter.

Hi Don,
The following is a link where one can find DVD's using Descriptive video. However, I am still wanting to know how to play them on my computer.
