See, I'm new at this. I had no idea the brand name was important info. My
sighted wife is going to just type all the specs here for you:
The router is a Zonet 802.11n, Model #ZSR4134WS. Wireless broadband for
mobility and complete SOHO solution. The 802.11n provides data transfer rate
up to 200Mbps, near 4 times faster than 802.11g standard.
WAN, LAN, Flash 2 Mbytes, System Memory 16 Mbytes, Spectrum Spread
Technology DSSS, RF Power 17-20 dBm peak power, 14-17 dBm RMS power, Antenna
fixed, Antenna type Two 3dBi, Frequency 2.4GHz - 2.4835GHz, Media Access
Protocol WMM, Modulation BPSK, QPSK, CCK and OFDM(BPSK/QPSK/16-QAM/64-QAM),

Too much info I know, but we just copied what it said on the box. Thanks
again.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Router question
The 1st configuration of which u should be aware is security. By
default, most wireless routers are configured as 'open', which equates
to free internet for all. It's a security hole bigger than the Grand
Canyon, & needs to be closed. If your devices support it, wp2 is the
preferred method.
The 2nd thing of which u need to be cognisant is something called the
SSID. These usually by default consist of the router's brand, (which u
didn't give, btw). Change the SSID broadcast name & also the default
passwords, using upper & lowercase letters, numbers, & punctuation
signs.
U may also wish to change the IP address on which the router operates,
though since this is a private address, that concern is not so glaring
as the other 2 just mentioned.
All these changes can be made by plugging your pc into the router b4
ever putting it online, & is the method of choice for this kind of
configuring.
U ask for specific instructions--hardly possible since u don't provide
brand name, model number, etc. of the router u have.

Hi all;
I just bought a wireless router. In fact, the sale seemed so good I
bought two. One for home and one for work.
I have never used a router before and would like information on
connecting
it.
At home, I only have one PC but I am planning on obtaining a second one
in
the near future.
I would like to use the WIFI feature of the router for my smart phone.
Do I just plug the router in? I would prefer to keep my PC directly
plugged
in and later use the wireless function on the second PC when I get it.
Are there configurations I need to be aware of?
By the way, I have DSL and of course have a modem.
also, I am very un-educated in this matter and explicit directions would
be
much appreciated.
Thank you so much for any help.
