I recently started using APH's Braille Plus and Refreshabraille combination
and think it's very very slick. The combo consists of the Braille Plus,
which is a very nice PDA running on Linux, and the Refreshabraille 18 which
is an 18-cell braille display with a standard braille input keyboard. The
units are intended to be connected via Bluetooth, and they can be housed in a
sort of binder which closes when they're not in use. Both the display and
PDA can be used by themselves, for example, connecting the display to a PC or
Laptop running a screen reader such as JAWS. If the Braille Plus is used as
a stand alone, data can be imported either on a braille keyboard on the PDA,
through a telephone keypad on the PDA using typical cell phone data entry, or
using something called thumbs braille which appears to involve turning the
unit 90 degrees. More later. Gotta go.
