try the following;
1, desktop;
2, make sure there's no icon highlighted/selected;
3, right click,/applications key;
4, up arrow and enter on,
personalize,
now tab and enter on,
change desktop items link;
here you can check the recycle bin, computer, user files network, etc,
make sure you tab okay and enter to save changes.
