[Blind-Computing] bios

Hi, 
some times when I just start up my computer it just goes to a screen with alot 
of writing on it and does not go to the windows and I have to close the 
computer off and start it again and then it works right, does any one know why 
it does this?
I am using windows XP home.
any help will be appreciated .
